

At the time of its release, Sekiro was the subject of intense discourse over whether it should have an easy mode or offer other kinds of accessibility options for players. The famously punishing title from Dark Souls studio FromSoftware has no native difficulty options, except for a few in-game trinkets that can be activated to make the game even harder.

We likely won’t be releasing any more long gameplay previews before release (spoilers!), but a few character, boss, and map previews are sure to come! Stay tuned.Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice has received an unofficial easy mode in the form of a mod called “Sekiro The Easy.”

Nightfall also takes many cues from the design of Majora’s Mask, one of my favorite games. Combat will be faster-paced, against a mixture of familiar and unfamiliar foes, with brand new voiced NPCs and side-quests. It’s basically a brand new Souls game built using the Dark Souls engine and assets. Nightfall is a direct fan-made sequel to Dark Souls, with a new story, new characters and bosses, new world map (built mostly from the existing pieces), and much more. We were originally targeting a release date of December 21, 2021, but after Elden Ring’s delay (and the sheer amount of ambition we’ve since added), we’re now targeting a release date of Januthe original release date of Elden Ring (which is now coming on February 25). We released a preview of the first 18 minutes of the game in February 2021.

Dark Souls: Nightfall is the giant new Dark Souls mod I’m working on with an incredible team including AinTunez, Meowmaritus, Dane Brennand, horkrux, Zullie the Witch, Stayd, Itzli, Dropoff, Mayhem, and Souv, with occasional input from a few others.ĪinTunez and I started sketching the outline for Nightfall in 2019, and spent 2020 assembling the team and piecing together the core components.
